Gustavo Saposnik

Gustavo Saposnik, MD, MPH, PhD, FRCPC

Co-Founder, NeuroRise

Gustavo Saposnik is an accomplished Neurologist, Clinician-Scientist, and global healthcare consultant dedicated to bridging clinical practice with groundbreaking research. As a Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at Unity Health Toronto, his work focuses on improving patient outcomes through innovation and evidence-based leadership.

Holding a PhD in Neuroeconomics (Decision Neuroscience) from the University of Zurich and a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University and the University of Buenos Aires, Gustavo has spent his career exploring how clinicians make complex decisions under uncertainty. His pioneering research focuses on therapeutic inertia and applying principles of behavioral economics and decision neuroscience to clinical settings to improve healthcare choices.

Gustavo currently serves as the Vice-President of the World Stroke Organization (WSO; period 2024–2028) and acts as a global scientific advisor for major international scientific organizations and health ministries. Driven by his dedication to medical education and systemic leadership, he recently completed the Rotman/OMA Physician Leadership Program. Gustavo is a faculty and workshop developer for the Future Leaders, a Program by the WSO.

With a portfolio comprising over 300 peer-reviewed publications (PubMed) and over 150 successfully executed projects, Gustavo brings a wealth of expertise in steering multidisciplinary teams. His passion for continued learning is also reflected by his recent acceptance into the Fellowship in Journalism & Health Impact at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Through NeuroRise, he leverages his extensive background in medicine, medical education, and neuroeconomics to support the inner side of clinical leadership. He is deeply committed to translating neuroscience and leadership science into practical tools that help healthcare professionals navigate responsibility, high-pressure decision-making, and teamwork in real clinical environments.

Julia Shapranova

Julia Shapranova, MSc in Education

Co-Founder, NeuroRise

Julia is a leadership development specialist bringing over a decade of experience across healthcare, international organisations, and global industry. Her work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, leadership, and organisational practice, focusing on how clinicians and leaders make decisions, build trust, and perform under pressure.

She has designed and led global leadership programmes working directly with clinicians, academics, and multidisciplinary teams across healthcare systems on four continents. Her work has contributed to published research and has been implemented in clinical settings worldwide.

Alongside her healthcare work, Julia has developed and delivered human capability initiatives across multinational, commercial, and international organisations, including Royal Dutch Shell, Magnus Energy, and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. Her work connects individual performance, team dynamics, and organisational culture, bringing a systems-level perspective that bridges healthcare, industry, and organisational performance.

She holds a Master's degree in Educational Sciences, completed the Executive Leadership Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and is certified in neuroscience-based leadership coaching through the NeuroLeadership Institute.

Through NeuroRise, she works with clinicians and healthcare leaders to translate science into practice: building the capability to lead with clarity, confidence, and humanity in the moments that matter most.
